My goal is to work in editorial design so this project was a chance for me to build the kind of portfolio that speaks to boutique
studios and independent publishers who value creativity, storytelling, and beautifully made publications.
For this project, I have refined and redesigned my process books from Oxford Brookes University studies into a cohesive series that reflects consistency in design, layout, and typography. The key focus is on exploring bookbinding as a method of elevating these publications, drawing on recent mentor feedback from a professional bookbinder and past lecturers.

Currently, I’m gaining hands-on industry experience at Officeworks in the Print & Copy Centre. By the time I graduate, I
aim to expand my technical knowledge of printing processes – a skill set I believe is crucial for a career in publication design, particularly within magazines, zines, and independent editorial work.
Each book was carefully trimmed by hand using a ruler and knife - a slow, meticulous process that tested my accuracy and consistency. Although it was the most time-consuming stage, especially when I had to correct a few printing errors, the precision and craftsmanship that came through in the final results made it completely worthwhile.

This project has given me an opportunity to redesign and redefine my past process books into a cohesive body of work
that displays my skills as an editorial designer, while enhancing my skills and love for physical media.
I have learnt that the process from digital to physical is extremely time consuming and frustrating at times, but it was all worth it in the end.
To see my projects redefined, polished and displayed knowing that I've given it my all is worth all the wasted paper. I have learnt that I do sweat the small stuff and need to believe in myself more and maybe could have planned my time better.
